Shattered Palm

WAHH!!!!!!!!
My belt case was not secured fully, so that left the top
opening wide open - and that opening had found itself toward
the floor...Excuse me, the hard cement floor of the garage -
I had just gotten out of the car and the Palm couldn't wait
to get home either. So out it goes onto the cement floor.
*Crunch* Stylus flies out, and it's a few seconds before I
realize the screen has cracked. A nice clean
corner-to-corner crack. If I wanted to see some data, I
could see it - i assuming that I could tap on the proper
application - the digitizer was off. So, I called Palm and
they sent me a replacement, waiving the $100 fee (as a one
time only "favor").
That is not the boo-hoo, wah-wah, sad part. This happened
on Sunday night, the week of Macworld Expo NYC. I called on
Tuedsay and Palm quoted a delivery of 3-5 days. It arrived
on Wednesday during the day. It arrived in NJ at my parent's
house, where live for the summer every other day except this
week. So even if I had been there, or had it sent to NYC
where i'm staying with my brother, it still wouldn't have
arrived on time for what I wanted it for - the keynote. I
was forced to take notes on a hotel note pad and scribbling
on any flyer I had, or the printout of the week from Palm
Desktop. Beaming my card to people was not to be, nor was
beaming people apps, receiving apps, sending my Palm
resources and software memos, or trying out tips and tricks
that I learned from David Pogue (well, re-learned). However,
I felt my Palm live on in spirit, as the floor was filled
with Palm devices (well, the floor was covered with people,
who were carrying devices - well the people weren't *on* the
floor--- you figure it out....). Not having the Macworld
Expo guide (OnTap version) wasn't a pcinic either. Having
all that info from that book electonically (and searchable)
was a great improvement over paper info.
BTW that speckled stuff on the case is a sticky overlay
from PGHQ - just a sticker- comes in cool colors.
